Kurtyak's age
[edit]This German source ("Deutsche Gesandtschaftsberichte aus Prag By Manfred Alexander, Heidrun Dolezel, Stephan Dolezel, Germany Gesandtschaft (Czechoslovakia)") gives his year of birth as 1888. 76.97.245.5 (talk) 09:33, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

cs page
[edit]I've tried to find something on this party in the cs.wikipedia and have so far come up empty. Although the ruthenians (rusyns) apparently were something like the Russian minority in Czechoslovakia, I find it odd to have a Russian translation for a Czechoslovakian party rather than a Czech one in the intro. 76.97.245.5 (talk) 09:59, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- This is analogous to other cases were names of parties using minority languages have articles, like Batasuna, Poalei Zion, etc.. I'm not saying that a Czech (or Slovak, for that matter) cannot be included if such a name was used in Czechoslovak newsmedia at the time, but we should have the name that was used by the party itself. The source that I used to create the article (a German book) gave the name simply as Avtonomski zemledelskij sojuz, without specifying if it was in Russian, Rusyn or Ukrainian language. --Soman (talk) 10:53, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Found s.th in cs "Autonomní zemědělský sojuz" is mentioned in Volby_1935 [1] I guess that would then be the party's Czech name. It's not big enough for them to have a page, it seems.76.97.245.5 (talk) 11:07, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- It seems Autonomní zemědělský sojuz is just a transliteration from Russian/Rusyn, google translate doesn't recognize 'sojuz' as a Czech word. Note that the same cs wiki article Volby 1935 uses the slovak name Hlinkova slovenská ľudová strana, rather than the Czech Hlinkova slovenská lidová strana. But German and Polish party names are translated into Czech. It appears that multilingualism wasn't consequent in CSR at the time. --Soman (talk) 11:15, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Speaking of googling, 18 ghits aren't that much. There is some indication, though that the transliterated version was what was used. This site gives translations for the German names, but leaves AZS as is. [2]. This seems to be from the minority area: [3]. BTW they have a different election date "1923" for the 21,161 votes mentioned in the article. Those don't seem to have been parliamentary elections, though. The "house of representative" elections were 1920, 1925, 1929 and 1935. Hope this helps.76.97.245.5 (talk) 12:10, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
- Google translate says the 1923
(1924?)elections were municipal elections. --Soman (talk) 12:34, 22 December 2008 (UTC)- The answer is given at http://www2.czso.cz/csu/2006edicniplan.nsf/o/4219-06-1920_az_1935-prehled_vysledku_voleb_do_narodniho_shromazdeni_v_obdobi_1920___1935 , see the footnote in the end saying Poznámka: V roce 1920 se nekonaly volby na území Podkarpatské Rusi, dodatečně byly uskutečněny v roce 1924., translated "Note: In 1920, the elections did not take on the territory of Sub-Carpathian Ukraine, subsequently were made in 1924." --Soman (talk) 12:51, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
